The ChEMBL database is one of the most important sources of open drug discovery data and is a key part of linked data in the biomedical domain. Last week members of the Open PHACTS team, which includes the ChEMBL group, met at the EBI in Cambridge for a 2 day workshop to discuss the next generation of ChEMBL RDF.

During the workshop the team discussed enhancements to existing ChEMBL RDF, including chemistry representation and normalisation, provenance, drug targets and identifier mapping. The release of this new semantic web version of the database (scheduled for late spring 2013) represents a major milestone for both the ChEMBL group and Open PHACTS. Once the data is released, the Open PHACTS Explorer and APIs will be updated to this latest version. You can keep up to date by following the Open PHACTS and ChEMBL Blogs.
